ABOUT EVERTON

Everton was a bustling, popular area of Liverpool that has undergone much depopulation in recent times due to housing regeneration in the city.

In the 1960s and 1970s, there was much clearance of old housing, lots of which was not replaced by new homes. Instead, Everton Park was created and the local population decreased by 100,000 from its 1960s peak levels.

One of the former residents who pre-dated the de-population is probably it’s most famous – Sir Paul McCartney of The Beatles.

The area has places to socialise beyond work, mainly pubs of which there are quite a few, such as The Grove which has been popular in the area for decades.

We are also here to help you get around beyond Everton, so if you need to travel to other Liverpool districts such as Garston or Belle Vale, or even out into the fields of Lancashire for leisurely walks, our minibus or coach hire can take you there.

PLACES TO VISIT IN AND AROUND EVERTON

St. George’s Church
Church builder and iron foundry master John Cragg’s trademark was ornate, cast ironwork. This was integral to all three churches he built in Liverpool. St. George’s is also noted for its west tower that can be seen by all in the Everton area.

Everton Road Drill Hall
Now run down but with immense historical importance, this Grade II listed building comprises three large, Georgian houses that were knocked together to create a drill hall for the 19th Lancashire Rifle Volunteers that took part in the second Boer War.

Over time the regiment had many name changes. Before the Great War, the riflemen mobilised at the drill hall before deployment overseas. The hall was finally decommissioned in 1920 but today locals appreciate its listed status.

Everton Lock-up

The most famous son of this area is Everton Football Club (although they have never been based in the area). Look closely at the club crest and you will see what looks like a little house.

This is no house. It is a lock-up, a small structure of holding cells where drunks and the like were locked away overnight ahead of morning court appearances back in the olden days.

Everton FC has paid large amounts to aid the upkeep of the lock-up and nowadays, after dark, it is illuminated Everton blue.

Despite the lack of a football stadium, Everton is still well worth a wander around.  There is much to enjoy and once it has been enjoyed, the Liverpool districts of Anfield, Dingle and Garston are not far away, as is the rolling countryside just beyond the city’s outskirts – all of these areas can be reached at your convenience with our minibus and coach hire just a text away.

Testimonials

We were very pleased with the service we received. Our home is not easy to find but the driver had left plenty of time to follow our instructions when he phoned for help. He was very friendly and helpful. We will definitely use and recommend this company again especially for groups of 6 and above.

My family were going out to Christmas dinner on Christmas Day. The price was fantastic to take 10 of us out including multiple pick up and drop offs. The driver Atif was extremely pleasant, prompt and accommodating. Highly recommend and will definitely use them again. Kind Regards, Stephanie International Business Manager.
