Once there was an old ash tree. A twisted, gnarled ash tree. This is how the area got its odd name. The tree was on a site near the Knotty Ash pub. The area is on the outskirts of Liverpool and was not absorbed into the city until relatively recently.
Historically, Knotty Ash was a place people passed through on their way to Liverpool, remaining lowly populated until urbanisation kicked in during the 1930s. The residential housing estate had arrived.
And then there was Ken Dodd. The energetic comedian lived here all his life and his comedic creations, the Diddy Men had their fictitious home in the centre of Knotty Ash.
Today the area has cafes, bars and restaurants such as the stylish, family run Rotisserie Hub. Knotty Ash is also noted for its open, green spaces and numerous pubs. The Wheatsheaf being one of the more popular.
Once the time arrives to explore more areas of Liverpool such as Gateacre or Edge Hill – or escape the city entirely and live the country life for a day, our minibus or coach hire will ensure your escape.
Formerly the site of Thingwall House, a grand manor house built by shipping magnate Henry Bright.
This brand new park revitalises the long neglected land around the old house with further plans to turn the 5 acre site into a community hub complete with a heritage centre and workshop facilities.
Saint John The Evangelist Church
Dating back to 1834 this Grade II listed building has always been a popular place of worship. Soon after its completion, wings were constructed to provide extra pew space for the poor of the area. If you like church architecture, the chancel here is well worth visiting.
And if organs are your thing, the church’s amazing feat of pipe engineering was totally rebuilt in 1967.
A popular park that provides much needed green space to Knotty Ash locals. At one time this was the site of Springfield House, a huge residence of a wealthy Liverpool family.
By 1907 the land was taken over by the council to create a public space that is still popular to this day, especially the much used children’s playground. The death of Nelson is marked by an obelisk in the park.
Knotty Ash, land of the Diddy Men and the subterranean jam butty mines is awaiting your arrival. You can get there and to nearby areas such as Childwall and Belle Vale with our minibus and coach hire. We are just call away.

We were very pleased with the service we received. Our home is not easy to find but the driver had left plenty of time to follow our instructions when he phoned for help. He was very friendly and helpful. We will definitely use and recommend this company again especially for groups of 6 and above.

My family were going out to Christmas dinner on Christmas Day. The price was fantastic to take 10 of us out including multiple pick up and drop offs. The driver Atif was extremely pleasant, prompt and accommodating. Highly recommend and will definitely use them again. Kind Regards, Stephanie International Business Manager.
